Yeah, that particular fact of life about the Princess Bride hit me a few months ago when I was surfing IMDB looking at trivia. "1987...wait. 1987? That ain't right, man!"

Oh, but it is.

Titanic is 10 years old this year, too. It kind of gets me that the Matrix was eight years ago too.

I found out recently that my husband has never seen The Princess Bride! Can you imagine? Unfortunately, we haven't had a chance to rectify that yet.

A few months ago, I honestly kept my TPB videotape in my glove compartment, recognizing that I had been called to be the Angel of Rectification. It does seem like something that skipped over a lot of people when the film came out.

My first reaction before seeing the link: No, I do *not* want to know what Andre the Giant looks like now. After seeing the pictures of Cary, I am reminded of my mother's favorite aphorism: when she was a girl she wanted to look like Elizabeth Taylor, and now she does!

Can't wait to take a look after work. I think it's interesting that when the film first came out, I related to the Fred Savage character, and now it's all about Mandy's Inigo -- I like to chart my growth through a single pop-culture element. I still remember the summer when mom worked nights and I was deemed "too young" to be outside without an awake and aware grownup around to monitor general safety -- my sister and I would make kitchen messes or play with legos or build elaborate doll houses with The Princess Bride on in the background.

How sad it is to grow up and abandon summer only to work every day!

I was going to say: When Matthew Perry went through a drug addiction problem, he kind of looked similar. But I'd prefer that his bloating in the face is from something he can't control rather than succumbing to one of the lures of Hollywood/fame/money.

I can believe it's 20 years, because I first watched it with B and E when they were little kids.

I think Chris Sarandon looks better now than he did then. Mandy Patinkin still looks great, in a different way. For Elwes, I think the writer chose the worst photo he could find; if you look at the photos on IMDB, you can see that Elwes's weight seems to have fluctuated over the years, but how good he looks depends a lot on the angle he's photographed from (and did to some extent even when he was young).

J and I watched Young Frankenstein over the weekend, and it was hard to think about it: Marty Feldman, gone; Madeline Kahn, gone; Peter Boyle, gone.

I never want to kill myself when I realize I vividly remember things twenty years ago. I'm just glad to still be around, and I hope for a couple more twenty, if I'm lucky.

I'm kind of with the comment that said the poster had confused being a snarky jerk with being funny. And no, the only depressing thing is the absence of Andre the giant. The really young people actually look a bit unfinished to me at this point.

I just wanted to point out that Peter Falk has a wonderful part in Wings Of Desire, and in someways it reminds me of the grandfather character from TPB.

I suppose Anne Hathaway' s too old, but it's be fun to see "The Princess Bride Diaries...

Wow, 20 years. I remember that this was one of the first movies my dad took my sister and I to see on a weekend visit after he and my mom split. I still watch it all the time, though!

As for Cary, either he gained a lot of weight, fast, or that's, as has been mentioned, the worst picture the poster could find. He was the leas in the first Saw movie, which granted is a few years old itself, now, but he looked just fine in it.

Upon looking at these pictures awhile ago, I went websurfing to see if, in fact, they had just gone for the ugliest possible current-day version of the cast.

I think they did. There are tons of more modern shots that look much better even without photo-retouching.

Still, I feel old.

I guess it hasn't hit me yet that it has indeed been 20 years, because I was only able to watch The Princess Bride last year.

But when I do searched for the cast online, my it has been so long! I actually follow Mandy's show of Criminal Minds.
