I think that you may not be figuring in having to pay for parking as Peg and I would have to do downtown. I know that parking at one ramp reasonably convenient to my old job recently had its monthly rate reduced to a mere $150/month. I don't expect that's typical but even at half that the $40 or so per month I spent on the bus pass was cheaper even before counting regular car expenses like gas, insurance, maintenance.
