Still sick

I have lost my voice entirely, and I have a terribly fierce sore throat. Swollen glands and fever. I think there's a pretty good chance this is strep. One of the other secretaries at my office called in that she had it. I'm waiting for the doctor's office to call me back to let me know if they can fit me in.

The humidifier broke; I need to get another one.

I want pho, dammit. I am determined to get it, somehow, for lunch.

Hope it's strep; antibiotics and 48 hours, and it'll be over.

On the other hand, I'm on week three of the Martian Death Flu, and the only cures for that are time and death. I'm kinda hoping for time, myself.

Yuck! It sounds like strep, all right. I get it so often that I can just call my doctor and they'll call in a prescription for me. HATE IT. I hope you find pho, and I hope you get feeling better SOON.

I'll ditto Joel on the "oh, I hope it's strep" comment -- because they can fix that rather than having to wait for it to fix itself. Mono would be much more of a PITA. (They do have treatments for mono, but it's not a "here, take these antibiotics and they will quickly cure you" sort of deal.)

Did you get your pho? And your doctor appointment?

Yes to both. I'm seeing the doctor at 2:15.

Christ, my throat is just killing me, even with the painkillers.

I've basically given up anything this side of narcotics for a bad sore throat, except for gargling with warm salty water which -- for me; YMMV, but I hope not -- works wonders.

Ed had a really weird virus a few months back that involved his uvula -- or whatever that thingie is that dangles down in the back of your throat -- ballooning to some truly unreasonable size. It hurt like heck. He said the salt water gargle tasted utterly foul, but helped a ton. He also used this OTC spray-on stuff from the pharmacy, which decreased the pain sufficiently that he could eat and drink, which was good.

Hope you've found a favorite throat soother, like tea with a touch of lemon and honey.

Get better soon!

pineapple in any form is great for a sore throat, but if you can make a syrup kind of thing with it, even better.

*hugs and healthy energy*
