It runs about 4900 + words and desperately needs a boffo ending that never quite showed up. But it's completed. I have no perspective on whether or not it's any good, although I suspect not. But I can go to bed tonight with a clear conscience. Thank goodness. Asking for the afternoon off today to finish it was the right decision.

I took a look at the schedule again. Apparently, the discussion of Stardust that Neil Gaiman might attend starts at 11:00 and runs for an hour; my presentation is at 11:30. So I won't be too surprised if my presentation is poorly attended. These things happen.

Good for you, for finishing it. If your paper is like my papers, the boffo ending will occur to you fifteen minutes before it's due, and you'll be scribbling desperately on the back of your typescript.

I wish I could come hear you present it, but duty calls.

You may not be in the mood, after wrestling with your paper and all, but if I'm thinking correctly the 10th anniversary of The Wild Swans will be in 2009, right? What with writing for Lavender again I wonder if you'd be interested in a "ten years after I wrote the book" type interview?
