Saw this notice posted on one of my favorite every day go-to sites, Arts and Letters Daily:
Dear Readers...

Along with many friends, I’ve felt frustrated in recent years trying to reconcile wildly opposed claims about global warming. In order to advance better understanding, Doug Campbell and I have created a new website. If global warming issues interest you, we invite you to visit Climate Debate Daily. Denis Dutton

Thanks! "Climate Debate Daily" is a fascinating site, even though I'm now more confused that ever.

I'm neither frustrated nor accepting of "wildly opposed claims" when the truth has been known -- and agreed upon -- for many years. Again, I'll recommend my brother's blog, Climate Progress.

Um, I'm afraid the Climate Debate Daily site has a problem -- like much of the media, it does the public a disservice by presenting a "debate" about global warming as if there were equal arguments on each side. Pretty much all scientists now accept that climate change is real and caused to some extent by human activity, except those paid by the oil industry and its friends. According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, "ExxonMobil has funneled nearly $16 million between 1998 and 2005 to a network of 43 advocacy organizations that seek to confuse the public on global warming science." See http://www.ucsusa.org/global_warming/science/skeptic-organizations.html There's also an interesting analysis of the complications of media and climate science at http://stephenschneider.stanford.edu/Mediarology/Mediarology .
