I wish I knew how to hibernate. I mean, I really wish I knew how to physically make my body go to sleep and not wake up until spring. And how to have somebody else pay my bills/make dinners for ungrateful offspring/do the chaffeuring/keep the house from totally degenerating in the interim while I'm out of action.

Barring that, I'd like to retire under the covers with a good, mindless read and a big bowl of chocolate microwave cake. Or popcorn slathered in butter and parmesan cheese. Or cassoulet. Or Beef Pho. Or anything warm and comforting, really.

I'm well on my way to learning hibernation. Left to my own devices I can sleep 12 - 14 hours a day with no problem.

If only the city closed and gave us Cold Day's.

A couple of my mom's coworkers in Dallas had to go to the Twin Cities for a week for business. They came back and assaulted her with inquires of 1)how do people actually live in weather like that, and 2)why would they want to? My mom was never a winter person, and has never been happier since moving to Texas. She said that yesterday it got awfully windy, but the air was so warm they had to turn on the air conditioning. So perhaps hibernation isn't the answer, but transplanting yourself is? Then again, sometimes I speculate that a coma would make a nice vacation, as it's not always just the weather but everything else that I need a complete break from.

When you figure out how to do that hibernation thing, would you let me know how? Although your alternate plan sounds really good too....
