Did you see the eclipse? I did! I kept going out to the backyard to admire it again, in my boots and bathrobe, which was really silly, considering it was -6 degrees F. It was perfectly clear here in Minneapolis, so you could easily see Regulas and Saturn bracketing it. Lovely. It's emerging from shadow, but if you haven't seen it at all, go outside quickly and see it now. You won't see it again until 2010.

Too cloudy in SLC now to see :(

It was high enough!

(most astronomical things either happen in the summer when we're f-ed because of abundant leaves on gigantic trees OR it happens too low on the horizon for us to see in the winter.)

I was out on the side porch in jammies, slippers and my SCA greatcoat, which, while warm, wasn't much proof over jammies. So we weren't out long. But we could also see it from a window.

WOW.

It was about 25F when I was out there, which meant I was still shivering, but us Bostonians aren't as inured to the cold as we used to be.

Magical moments.

And thank you for mentioning the planets, I was going to look them up. Still will, probably, but this gives me more of a starting point.

Yes, it was neat! I set up my telescope so the neighbors could have a look too -- though only after the end of totality, as it was cloudy earlier.

I did! I remembered it late, though, so it was already past the full.

We are fortunate that we could see it from our second-floor kitchen windows.
