Kij ([livejournal.com profile] kijjohnson) suggested a family recipe for me to try, and I'm actually sorta excited to see what my family thinks of it. I'll have to stop on the way home for some of the ingredients I don't ordinarily have on hand. I think I'll try that butcher shop that [livejournal.com profile] minnehaha B. took me to once in the Linden Hills area.

I'll report back tonight to let you all know how it went.

This is a heads up to look for a package from me---I'm B. Harrison.

That butcher shop is called Clancey's. I loved them when I was there.:)

Oh, she'll definitely like it. I always talk about how the food of my people is repulsive, but a lot of it is really quite nice and subtle. I'm sure a supertaster would like that.

Damn, I just realized: I'm out of cloves. I'll have to make another stop. Or are they really necessary, do you think? Would it be enough to just increase the ginger?

Does she even like ginger? I would err on the side of caution about that. Get her to eat it this time without the cloves or extra ginger and then maybe ease the spices in slooowly.

Delia likes cooking, so maybe she could even help you mix everything. Then she'll know there aren't any of the Dread Apricots in there. ;)

What!? I only post the really terrible stuff, but Norwegian food can be bland and includes many of the things she will eat. There's no quinoa or polenta or anything. A lot of it is pretty familiar: grilled and poached fish, and potatoes and stuff. Not enough vegetables, though. I don't know what Peg is planning on preparing to go with it.

But the last recipe for Norwegian food on your LJ that *I* can see that involves cloves and ginger ....

And a stop to the butcher was mentioned....

That recipe actually sounds potentially quite tasty to me, and not entirely different from bacon or sausage or braised pork.

I can just see Delia coping with a pig head.
