I haven't been following wizard rock since before the retreat, so I went this morning to check to see if any of my favorite bands had new songs.

The Weasel King has a new free song for download (if you have a MySpace account): "Our King" which is a nice, albeit rather simple performance of the song that J.K. Rowling herself wrote in Book 5.

RiddleTM has a new song out--alas, not downloadable, but still worth a listen: Allegiance. Man, I really like these young singer/songwriters. I think they have quite a career ahead of themselves. Geez, they're only seventeen or so. I will definitely buy every album they put out.

For a rather different sound, more electronic/dance (not my usual taste, but you might like it), check out Luna's Ceiling.

A lot of the bands had a lot of fun with April Fool's Day yesterday. Harry and the Potters announced that they were breaking up, and each would be coming out with new solo albums:

and

The Remus Lupins announced that they were reformulating themselves and their music and would now be known as The Snapes:
The new band will be called The Snapes, and the record should be out in the next month. This means a few things. First off, expect more lyrics about potions and fewer about love. More minor chords and angry break downs in place of Bah Bahs, and centrally - I can not stress this enough - I am going to be in character at shows at all times. That means that I am not dorky werewolf prefect nice guy solid friend Remus Lupin anymore. I am Snape, Snape, Severus Snape.

No More Hugs at Shows. Don't ask.

In fact, don't look me in the eye.
Of course, all the various bands reverted to their true form now that the holiday is over, but some of their fans actually fell for the pranks.

As always, for my own curiosity, please comment if you listen and like.
