Sensei said that Delia was ready to test for her brown belt, but for some reason which we can't quite understand, Delia refused to do it and asked to test instead next month.

And good for Delia, too: listening to your own instincts about yourself and doing things at your own pace is a good thing to have mastered.

If I had to guess, I'd guess that Delia either (1) would prefer not to share the family spotlight with Fiona (in both directions, maybe--not just that she wouldn't get it all herself, but taking some from Fiona) or (2) doesn't want to risk not succeeding on the same day Fiona does succeed. Just guesses.

Wow, it seems like she just got her brown belt, and now she's black stripe already! How much longer to the official black-belt test? I'm still in awe that she'll achieve black belt at such a young age.

And hopefully Delia can use the extra time to gain confidence in her abilities. :) I'm impressed with her karate skills, too.

As soon as Two is old enough, I'd like to get her signed up for karate - I think the discipline/focus will be REALLY good for her (and she likes moving around a lot, anyway).
