New songs up from Ministry of Magic

My favorite wizard rock band, Ministry of Magic has posted a new song about one of my favorite characters: Severus Snape: "The Bravest Man I Ever Knew." I see they have also posted another new song called, well, "The Ministry of Magic."

No, you can't download them. Sorry. You can only join me in waiting (in my case, rather breathlessly) for the new album to come out, which they have said should be very shortly now. (They mentioned in passing that their MySpace music player hit 1/2 million. Yeah, they're pretty popular.)

I absolutely love "The Bravest man I Ever Knew." I bought their first album after just one listen through of their myspace player, on your recommendation, last summer. I'm thrilled they're releasing a follow-up.

O.K. I listened to it, and actually liked this take on both the theme ("bravest man," which is so easy to make saccharine--not to mention my personal irritation with "Brave" sometimes coming across as Teh One True Virtue in the Potterverse) and the overall interpretation of the Severus-Harry relationship. I don't think he hated Harry to the very end, but I think he spent most of his life thinking he hated Harry. I would LOVE to know what was going through Severus' mind that last year of his life, between learning that "the boy must die" and fulfilling his mission to pass on the information as he was dying.

Oh, and the 80's new-wave/techno vibe to the music was big bonus points, too. ;-) Thanks for passing this along!
