I didn't ride it all the way in. A certain amount of swapping cars back and forth was necessary, because the motor on the driver seat window on Rob's car is not working, so he had to take it in to get it fixed. So I threw my bike into the back of my jeep, drove to the mechanic's, and then reassembled and packed the bike and took off from there. That way Rob could drive my jeep to work after dropping his own car off. The extra nonsense meant I made it easy on myself, riding to the light rail station and taking the bike on the train. I think the tires need more pressure, and I won't be able to get to that till this weekend. But I think I will try riding the bike all the way home tonight--and discovering how much stamina I have lost over the winter. I also have to reacquaint myself with all the details of packing my bag with work clothes, locks, equipment, changing when I get to the office, etc.

Nevertheless, it may be said: I'm back on the bike.

Go me.

I dunnoh

If you're throwing jeeps into the backs of cars like that, you can't have lost much endurance over the winter... ;-)

Go, you, indeed! Remember that it's not an all-or-nothing thing. You've always got the train for part of the journey, if you don't feel up to the full commute.

And myself, I've spent the last couple of days discovering the joys of walking to the downtown library (from Hennepin and 26th, quite a nice walk) and enjoying the beautiful weather. I just might get my weight back into the 100s again, this summer--where it hasn't been since My Son was about 6 months old. Hoot!

P.S. - No rubber chicken post today? :-( I live for the rubber chickens, now.

I did post an answer today. I'm waiting to see if she posts a reply or a new riddle. She usually does on Fridays.

That reminds me . . . I'm going to order the rubber chicken earrings and send them to her.

Oh, I have much bicycle envy! I miss my bike so much since I broke my wrist but I'm afraid that's the last activity I'll be able to resume (well, maybe I'll be biking before resuming my full gym workout, but I'm already back at the gym).

I've been contemplating riding my bike to work some days. I normally drive Park Avenue to Franklin, and then west on Franklin to Blaisdell. The bike lane on Park seems pretty good, except for a few motorists who have no regard for bikers and turn right in front of them, but I'm not so sure about how it would be on Franklin. There is no bike lane, and the traffic is very heavy. Do you ride Park Avenue, and if so, how is it for biking?

I did ride Park for awhile last year, and it was pretty pleasant, although I, too, worried about a car door opening suddenly. But then at [livejournal.com profile] naomikritzer's suggestion, I changed my route and instead headed to Hiawatha and took the bike lane running along the light rail. MUCH safer and really a nice ride. And the light rail is right there if it starts raining or I get a flat. This works well for me since I work on the outskirts of downtown.

I did ride on Franklin. Once. Oy, that was scary. Yes, the traffic is VERY heavy, and no bike lane.

Do you have one of those maps which shows the bike lanes in Minneapolis?

Sorry it took me awhile to get back to you on this. Here you go.
