Who kidnapped the chickens?
Apr. 7th, 2008 02:41 pmAbout three weeks ago, I noted in a post that I'd be rather curious to know the reason behind the five rubber chickens, hanging head downward, that could be seen through the window of one of the practice rooms of the new MacPhail Center for the Arts across the alley from our building. You could see them from our kitchen when you stood there waiting for coffee to brew. It got to be quite a popular idle kitchen conversation topic in the mornings.
Today, I walked into the kitchen and stared in surprise at the large 2' x 3' sign taped in the kitchen window, facing outward toward the MacPhail. I read the writing backwards through the paper, glanced out the window, and doubled over with laughter.
The chickens in the window at the MacPhail had been taken down.
Apparently, someone in our office objected, because the sign read, "WE WANT THE RUBBER CHICKENS BACK!!!"
