Oh, Livejournal, repository of all knowledge . . .

I've had a mouth canker sore for over a month now. It's not concave, but a bump that refuses to heal. Sometimes ulcerated, sometimes not.

Suggestions? At what point do I get concerned enough to call the doctor?

Edited to add: Okay, thanks. I have an appointment with my clinic today.

You might need an antibiotic. A month is too long.

Call the doctor now. A viral canker sore should have healed in 2 weeks or under, unless you've retraumatized it.

Hi! I had a similar problem, and you need to see an ENT or an oral surgeon for a consult. The rule of thumb is that any canker sore that doesn't heal in 2 weeks needs to be biopsied. Hopefully it is nothing, but if god forbid it isn't, you want to get it taken care of as soon as possible.

And do see a specialist for this, because chances are your GP will brush it aside.

Good luck!

If you're like me, it will heal the day before you see the doctor. 8-)

I get those during times of stress or when I'm eating a lot of tomatoes (the acid). A warm saltwater rinse 3-4 times a day does the trick for me.
