Gred and Forge previously released a fun album, Half the Band I Used to Be (including amusing songs like "It Sucked When Dad Was Bitten By Nagini," "Our Fireworks Say Poo" and "Won Won.") I enjoyed the album, and I appreciated the fact that 100% of the profits are donated to Book Aid International, one of JK Rowling’s favorite charities. Gred and Forge were also featured on the Leaky Cauldron Jingle Spells CD and will be one of the bands featured with the Wizard Rock EP of the Month Club.

For a limited time, you can download songs from their limited EP We Had Class. From a blog entry on their Myspace page:
You may or may not have heard, but G&F released a new "just for Wrockstock" six song EP last week. It is called "We Had Class", and there were only 50 hand numbered copies made which sold out on the first day of Wrockstock. By the second day at there, I was getting requests for more copies of the EP. But instead of making & selling more copies, I've decided to do two things:

1. Ask those people who bought it to freely distribute it to anyone who wants a copy via burning, email, whatever.

2. Make the EP downloadable via the G&F MySpace page, one song at a time over a period of a week or two. The main five songs will be there, but the last (tiny) song will not be posted. You're not missing much though, trust me. But it's just for the peeps who bought it.

The first song "Divination" is downloadable right now & will be there for another day or two. Get it now! And please don't confuse this with my Wizard Rock EP of the Month Club CD, which should be in your mailbox any day now and is equally awesome.
Grab "Divination" today, and watch for the other four songs to become available in the weeks to come.

As always, for my own curiosity, let me know if you listen and like.

For someone completely new to Wizard Rock (and downloading songs at all) what would you recommend as a starting point?

Here's my Introduction to Wizard Rock post, which will give you a good start. If you do listen to any of these bands, let me know which ones you like.

As far as downloading songs from MySpace, you do have to sign up for a MySpace account. I never post there, but I'm glad I've gotten the account; I've gotten a lot of free great music by following Wizard Rock.

Once you've signed up for your account, log in, go to the wizard rock band's MySpace page, and click the "download" link on any song you like on the band's music player that is download-enabled (you can tell because the writing appears black rather than gray on the "download" link). Hope this helps.
