Any local people interested in buying Girl Scout cookies from Delia? Her troop is trying to raise money for a trip to Washington DC this June, and they're gonna need to sell a boatload of cookies to pull it off. (They can't accept donations for the trip, by the way; they can only raise money with sales.)

$3.50 a box, paid upon delivery.

Available: Lemon Chalet Cremes, Trefoils, Do-Si-Dos, Samoas, Dulce de Leches, Sugar Free Chocolate Chip, Tagalongs, Thin Mints. See descriptions here. Edited to add: and you don't have to worry about the peanut butter in the cookies; thanks to [livejournal.com profile] minnehaha K. for the link.

Leave a comment if you're interested by this Wednesday at noon (February 4). And locals? If you wouldn't mind spreading the word in your own journals, that would be great. Thanks!

What I did today to make the world a better place: Did the Care2.com Daily action: read article on necessity of decreasing use of bleach, to avoid dioxin. Purchased some European sponge cloths, as substitutes for paper towels.

I rarely use paper towels. Mostly just for draining fried things like bacon. I have a whole lot of rags, dish towels, and dish cloths I use instead. Back in the years when I couldn't afford paper towels I developed other strategies and now they're just habit. I am always surprised how much of our laundry involves squares and rectangles (sheets, towels, table cloths, napkins, kitchen linens, rags..... and so on and so on).

One does need a system for dealing with damp things in the laundry pile, lest mildew spoil some favorite article of clothing.
