From Arts and Letters Daily:
A continuously renewing society needs to foster innovative, versatile, and self-renewing men and women. For Keith Thompson that means leaving the Left behind...more...
Well? What do you think of his critique?

About 20,000 Enron former employees will split an $85 million insurance settlement to partially reimburse them for the losses they suffered when the Enron stock in their retirement plans went belly up because of the financial chicanery of Enron Chairman Kenneth Lay and former Chief Executive Jeffrey Skilling.

The two executives wanted the money (all $85 million, presumably) to go to the two of them. To pay for their legal defense. Read more here.

Bastards.

I have been coughing so much that my sides hurt. My voice is a rasp. Cough drops and Claritin have done little to help. I tried to exercise today, but it was dreadfully hard. I did a little weight lifting (only one rep) and tried a brisk walk on the treadmill, but even that, rather than elliptical, left me gasping after a mere eight minutes. Not the usual story.

Then tonight at karate, I went through my form twice, and then more or less collapsed, gasping. Sensei told me to stop.

I may have to renew my inhaler prescription. Damn.

This will not be a writing night. And I'm not going to feel guilty, dammit. *Glares around the room* If I had my icon-making software on the new computer, I'd make up one from the Mordor chapters, something like "Breathing was painful and difficult." Instead, I'm going to bed.
