last Space Camp event
Jun. 4th, 2006 04:48 pmTo celebrate the end of a long year and all the hard work we've been doing to teach the kids science and send them off to space camp, we gathered on Saturday for the Space Camp Launch, which was held at the farm of the parents of one of the chaperones. The day was devoted to aeronautics: kids brought kites, and the rockets and hot air balloons they had made (the latter out of tissue paper) and we spent a happy afternoon of a gorgeous day eating barbecue and launching stuff into space. See the entire group of pictures here. Delia's hot air balloon flew very well (they heated the air inside with a propane burner). She launched it several times and it never got trapped in a tree, unlike some of the other balloons.
Here's a great one of Delia:

Look at that happy smile on Delia's face in that first picture, folks. You did that. Thank you again for making a wonderful year's project possible for her and all the other happy kids who went.
