Hi, all, it's Peg, posting from the hotel again to reassure you all that we both survived the night. It was a rather early tiddleypom night, actually (there have been years we've stayed up through the entire night, but Kij had just flown in from the west coast, and I had been up since 6 a.m., so we sensibly--if not decorously--went to bed at about 1 a.m.) Kij is still sleeping now. I'm feeling fine . . no headache to speak of, although my stomach is feeling the effects of all that rich food. I will need breakfast soon, though, so I will have have to wake her up eventually.

Last night was a lot of fun. One of the best parts was spreading a cracker with brie cheese, drizzling some truffle honey on it, and seeing the look on her face when she tasted the combination for the first time. The sensual moan in response was really funny.

I do not yet have a tattoo (I'm sure you are all relieved that we were not rash enough last night to stupidly go out in the disgusting state we were in and try to find a parlor in the middle of the night). Don't know if I really will get one. I have been thinking about it for a long time, but I'm not sure . . . I will think about it some more and talk to her about it. (The icon I'm using is the one I have been thinking about getting as a tattoo. Not sure if it would work as a tattoo very well. Too detailed?)

Once she's up (the slug-a-bed), we'll go the the Midtown Global market for brunch and browse the lovely shops there. She had talked about going to a climbing gym with me. Of course, she would totally outclass me, but it would be fun just to see what she could do. We may not have time for that, since her parents are picking her up at 3:00 p.m. We will run home so she can see the girls and I can give her a book to read this week while she is visiting her parents (I'm curious to get her reaction). We intend to end up at Cafe Latte, where we will have their lovely cream tea.

Fiona and Rob reciting together:

We seek him here
We seek him there
The Frenchies seek him everywhere
Is he in heaven?
Is he in hell?
That demmed illusive Pimpernel."

I love passing on things like that . . .

We watched the movie tonight (Leslie Howard and Merle Oberon). I've handed Fiona the book to read, and I have no doubt she will finish it soon.

It is one of the movies we got with our family Christmas present to ourselves: Family Classics Fifty Movie Pack and HIstoric Classics Fifty Movie Pack. We are going to have a lot of fun with these. The other one we watched tonight was Douglas Fairbanks, Sr. in a 1926 silent film, "The Black Pirate."

I am thrilled to see that Jose Ferrar's "Cyrano de Bergerac" is also in this collection. That is one of my very favorites, and I am delighted to have a copy so I can introduce it to the girls.

It was a great deal, $30, for the two packs, a hundred movies in all. A great gift for your family.

Here is her account of our day together. I am particularly smug about the coat we found for her, reversable acid green/forest green double-breasted, pea jacket style. It looks stunning on her.

Damn, she looks stunning, period. Besides the fact that I was just delighted to see her, she is, no lie, just drop dead gorgeous. Eight months of serious climbing has wrought an amazing change, and she is in serious kick-butt shape, with great legs and really cut muscles, particularly in her upper body.

Lordy, I thought I was looking pretty good these days, but wow . . .

It inspires me want to hit the weights HARD myself. And get back into karate again, dammit. So I can look that kick-butt, too.

Hey, we need to get a newer picture of the two of us.
