Hi, all, it's Peg, posting from the hotel again to reassure you all that we both survived the night. It was a rather early tiddleypom night, actually (there have been years we've stayed up through the entire night, but Kij had just flown in from the west coast, and I had been up since 6 a.m., so we sensibly--if not decorously--went to bed at about 1 a.m.) Kij is still sleeping now. I'm feeling fine . . no headache to speak of, although my stomach is feeling the effects of all that rich food. I will need breakfast soon, though, so I will have have to wake her up eventually.

Last night was a lot of fun. One of the best parts was spreading a cracker with brie cheese, drizzling some truffle honey on it, and seeing the look on her face when she tasted the combination for the first time. The sensual moan in response was really funny.

I do not yet have a tattoo (I'm sure you are all relieved that we were not rash enough last night to stupidly go out in the disgusting state we were in and try to find a parlor in the middle of the night). Don't know if I really will get one. I have been thinking about it for a long time, but I'm not sure . . . I will think about it some more and talk to her about it. (The icon I'm using is the one I have been thinking about getting as a tattoo. Not sure if it would work as a tattoo very well. Too detailed?)

Once she's up (the slug-a-bed), we'll go the the Midtown Global market for brunch and browse the lovely shops there. She had talked about going to a climbing gym with me. Of course, she would totally outclass me, but it would be fun just to see what she could do. We may not have time for that, since her parents are picking her up at 3:00 p.m. We will run home so she can see the girls and I can give her a book to read this week while she is visiting her parents (I'm curious to get her reaction). We intend to end up at Cafe Latte, where we will have their lovely cream tea.

Back when I used to travel on business (not often), it was absolutely blissful to have time which wasn't accountable to anybody -- so astonishing to do things that didn't satisfy anybody's needs but mine, without reporting in.

I keep thinking there ought to be snow involved. As in, "The more it snows (tiddleypom!) / The more it blows (tiddleypom!) / The more it keeps (tiddleypom!) ? On blowing. / And nobody knows (tiddleypom!) / How cold my toes (tiddleypom!) / How cold my toes (tiddleypom!) / Are growing.

At least, I *think* the interjections in that were tiddlypoms! My Pooh book is Somewhere in Storage on another continent, unfortunately.

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have wanted you to go over with a bottle of Scotch to demonstrate.

You know, if it weren't for puppies that would have been an excellent idea. (The puppies hog the bottle.)

Nope. My theory is that the truffle honey magically protected us from hangover somehow.

Kij has already headed off with her parents to Rice Lake. But she will be back in town next Saturday, from mid-morning, before she flies out again at about 5 p.m. We are going to talk later this week.

I think that icon would work just fine as a tattoo. The trunk will go right up the spine and the branches spill over your shoulders. Their curves would accent your shape. With a back-less gown, you'd be the toast of the ball.

I agree, I was thinking the only way that icon would work as a tattoo would be as a large back piece.

I think your icon would make a lovely tattoo if you make it large enough (on your back, say, rather than your ankle).

I too have been thinking about a tattoo for a long time...the hitch is being automatically deferred as a blood donor for an entire year. I always decide something else will come up that causes me to be deferred and I will do it then but nothing ever does. (I suppose this sounds a very silly excuse but I'm O neg which is always on the Critical Needs list here.)

::crosstalk:: Speaking of icons that would make lovely tattoos, may I just say that your icon is beautiful? I'm a huge fan of deer imagery.

Thank you! It was made by someone called Galatea, and I found it among her Spirituality icons. I was using it as a Christmas icon but it's so lovely I've been reluctant to change it out.

I, too, admire the icon. I am thinking about creating a teeshirt for my next book, and a magical stag figures into the story. I'm always looking for stag ideas.

Here's a link to the creator's Icons homepage: Galatea's Glamouries (http://www.galateasglamouries.com/ljicons.html)

and I hope I'm not spamming you -- poor confused lj seems to think that I am logged in AND that I don't exist AND that I am a spam robot all at the same time and can't make up its mind whether to accept this comment or not =)

and I hope I'm not spamming you --

Thanks for the link. No, your message only came through once! I know the frustration. I used to have a longer post completely dumped, before the auto-save feature. After losing two or three posts, I started writing them in Word or NotePad, saving, and THEN posting. Auto-save has been a time saver.
