Every time my friends list tops another hundred I ask again for another quickie round of introductions. Now that there are more than three four five hundred of you (eek) reading this journal (aside from the lurkers), tell me, please, if you are so inclined: how did you find my journal? Why do you keep reading? (No need to feel obligated if you've answered this before, of course. In fact, no obligation in general. But I am nosily curious, I'll admit.) Thanks.

Actually you found me, to my pleasure, through [livejournal.com profile] kijjohnson, of course.

I keep reading why? I guess I find your struggles with writing compelling, and I have a slightly voyeuristic, "better you than me" reaction to your perils of child-rearing (one thing I'll say about cats: if they get parasites, you drop 'em off at the veterinarian's office and pick them up clean a few hours later). And I've met you face-to-face, though long ago, so that adds to the sense of connection.

So, this is actually a funny story.

I thought you were someone else. By the time I realized that you were who you were and not who I thought you were, I liked your journal too much to keep you off my flist. I like reading about actual writers and their lives, and your stories about your daughters are absolutely *charming*.

Found you through a friend's journal...and started reading. I fell in love with Rennaissance jewelry because of you years ago when I picked up EHR from the library, cried the last three chapters of Wild Swans and keep wondering when the next one will come out!

Let's see, some of my friends had friend-ed you, so I either read some of your entries on my friendsfriends page or via links from my other friends. Not sure if I ever ran into you at a con - I have a vague recollection of you popping your head into one of Lois's panels (or was that Suford?). Anyway, I like reading about your kids and your job-hunting and ordinary stuff like that. (Speaking of your kids, if you're still battling lice, you may want to try Denorex shampoo.)

Peg--Hi! I was directed to your journal via [livejournal.com profile] shusu, when she discovered that I am also a big Lois McMaster Bujold/Miles Vorkosigan fan. I am also working on book projects and was interested to read the journal of another writer. Since adding you to my friends list, I've been very interested in some of your postings, particularly the ones about 'Take Your Child to Wirk Day' and the one on saving money, as well as hearing more about Solveig and Fiona. Your journal's just a very interesting one to read.

I don't remember how I found your journal -- probably through [livejournal.com profile] epicyclical or another friend we have in common. I keep reading because your real life is more interesting than any fandom.

I found you through Nocturne Alley, when the RPG was finished and you "came out" as Neville. I poked around your journal and discovered that you were the Peg Kerr who wrote "Emerald House Rising"

My roommate came to check on my because of all the shouting. You see, books are so important to me, so sacred, and "Emerald House Rising" and "The Wild Swans" are both in my Not To Be Sold or Borrowed book shelf. So that's reason number one.

The day after I friended your journal, you wrote a wonderful entry about your daughters. It was so lovely I just had to keep up with what you were doing, and what you would say next. You are under a filter named "Very Interesting People". That's reason number two.

And that's why I'm reading your journal!

Rare moment of de-lurk.

I found you through [livejournal.com profile] kijjohnson's live journal. I met Kij during NaNoWriMo last year, and I have taken lately to collecting authors' jounrals, so I can feel better about my own flailings at increasing my word count. Fellow writers keep me sane, and motivated, all at once.

I came because I admired your novel The Wild Swans; I stayed because I liked your voice and hearing about your household.

I came because I love your published work. I stayed because you show me little bits of life through new eyes. Also, because you are human and seem unafraid to acknowledge this while still wanting to do all you can. And, oddly enough, your struggles with the latest novel give me hope.

Well, I've known you and Rob for years (hell, Rob saved my life...). Also, I very much enjoyed watching the birth of _The_Wild_Swans_ -you know, I'd vetted a few other books before, but this was different. I like seeing how your mind works, and how you deal with everything in your life. Frankly, reading your posts encourages me in my creative stuff (more video, but I am slowly starting to write again), and helps keep me sober.

I pretty much found your journal just tripping around other people's LJ site.

You name came up on someone else's LJ ([livejournal.com profile] sartorias I think). As a writer of novels, not yet published aside from a few short stories and articles, I enjoy reading the thoughts, trials and joys of already published writers.
And as a mom, though all mine are teenagers, I can identify with some of your struggles. :-)

I found you because I knew that you were on the HPEF board. I'm still reading, because I really enjoy reading about how you manage to balance family and work life, and also love hearing stories about your daughters (I've got two myself - 9 and 6 years old).

Largely [livejournal.com profile] elisem's doing, I think.

We have met very briefly, I think, though I don't know if you'll remember it: you stopped by her place to look at necklaces for a gift in March when a friend and I were on our way out after doing the same thing. I was also in on the Great Necklace Surprise at Minicon. But I don't think we've ever actually talked or anything at any length.

I read your stuff because it's interesting. Your daughters are nifty. (I was at the YA panel they were on), I went out and read _The Wild Swans_ and loved it (and am still thinking about it periodically) and I like the way you write about events in your life, especially - but not just - the writing related bits.

We have several friends list folk in common, and I remembered getting a copy of your book through here for review -- though the reviewer assigned is incredibly overdue with it and I'm very cranky with her right now.

Anyway, you're a writer, I'm a writer, your journal is both fun and fascinating to read, and I look forward to reading The Wild Swans and your future books.

Basically, I like you. :)

Um, I think I probably found it through... queerasjohn, as was? I keep reading because... you're like no one else on my flist (am a sixteen year old in NZ, which may explain why). And I'm (nosily) interested.

I found your LJ through [livejournal.com profile] kalquessa. I'm pretty sure that I'd heard about The Wild Swans before I your lJ, and I didn't read it until kalquessa loaned it to me well after I'd found your LJ. I keep reading, although I lurk a lot, in part because I've been friending more writerly types on LJ lately. It's a combination of hoping that your mojo might rub off on me, trying to shame myself into writing more, and building an online network of like-minded folk. And I liked your book.

I found your journal through mizkit's friend page, but added you to mine because you are a mother of two girls, and have wonderful advice, comments and stories about that. I am raising a girl of seven alone right now, and can really relate to some of the things that you say. And some of your reactions have really helped me.
Thank you!!

I don't remember if I've answered before. I probably found your LJ through someone else's friends list. We have a lot of them in common. We also were on a panel together about Tolkien's poetry at, um, Minicon? Lke another of others above, I came because I really liked Wild Swans and stayed for everything else.

I may have answered this before, but hey, why not?

I found your journal, most likely, through [livejournal.com profile] epicyclical and was fascinated. Your writing style is clear and lovely, I really like your icons (I came aboard during the Jane Austen phase, I think), and...well, I'm fascinated by the lives of writers/authors. As someone who writes fiction for fun, the process intruiges me greatly--how do other people do it? How do they deal with this disease? And how does an author (for you are, to me) who journals reflect on their own process?

Your journal thus is continually enlightening. Thank you for keeping it! I look forward to reading your Ice Palace book. (Um, sorry if this sounds fawning and weird...it's not meant to, really.)

Found your journal by poking around looking for other writers, and from recommendation by another reader who connected fantasy writing and architecture. I do both. (If you have specific professional questions on architecting, I might be able to help.)
