I headed to work today, Ice Palaces tucked in my bag, so that I could continue reading and flagging it during lunch and breaks. I wasn't thinking of anything in particular when Morningside by John Gorka came on the radio as I was pulling into work. Listening to it, I thought about the conversation I had with Powers this last weekend, and about how the words are beginning to trickle out again, and I started to cry. I had to take a few minutes to mop myself before heading into the building.

It's really true. After so many years of doubt and heartbreak and silence, I am starting to write again. What Powers helped me understand is that it doesn't really matter if the doubt is still there.

Just keep writing.
