Gacked mostly verbatim from [livejournal.com profile] nmalfoy: Lurkers out there, yo, today's your day. Whether you're a LJ-lurker or from someplace outside reading this journal, you are the reason this journal isn't locked by default. So, come out and say 'hi' or something. Tell me what you're doing here, how you feel, who you are, whatever. Today's the day to seize and be un-shy for once.

AND tell if you are a regular reader of this journal or just like to drop in when I'm being snarky or whatever. You can tell me what you like and what you don't like about it. It's okay; I'd like to know, and I have pretty thick skin. Well, usually.

Or just drop in to say hi... because it would be nice to know if there's more than the same 8 or 10 people that gets good use out of this journal, you know what I mean?

(And yeah, this means you, too, Mom. Leave a comment.)

Hi! I read you regularly but don't comment much, simply because I'm not terribly commenty in general, and my 'Net time is limited to what I can cadge from the library or the university computer labs.

I'm a recent graduate of an MFA program in poetry, an English teacher, and soon to become a librarian.

I started reading you because I read _The Wild Swans_ and loved it, and have stayed for your thoughts on the writing process, depression, Christianity, parenthood and daily life.

Hi. :-)

I'm a regular reader, sometime commenter. I don't think there's anything I *don't* like about your journal. Not saying that to suck up, it's just true.

I truly enjoy reading your entries, whatever they're about--your girls, your husband, your day to day adventures, triumphs and failures, about your writing or not writing, karate, sitting on the front porch, whatever. Why? Your writing style. Your thoughtfulness, compassion, sense of humor. I like the way you observe minute details about the world around you. It's all good.

I often think of commenting more frequently, but often someone or many other someones have already said what I was feeling/thinking/would have said, and said it much better, and I'd feel kind of lame for piping up with, "Uh, yeah, what she said", or "Me too!" Or I often just feel shy or lame in general, so I remain quiet. ::grin::

So, there you have it. As for who I am, I suppose you'd just have to take a peek at *my* journal for a tiny bit of insight into that. :-)

Hi, I live not far over the river from Stillwater and I'm a full-time mom to toddler Will. I enjoy reading your posts about writing, reading, family life, and things to do in the Twin Cities. My husband Anton's not on LJ but he's a fan of yours and he's the one who let me know you were on LJ too.

So hello from our little Wisconsin gang! Hope you have a good Fourth of July weekend!

Hallo from an ex-pat in Scotland. =) I lurk a lot and comment once in a blue moon, which is a phrase I very much enjoy and once wrote a poem about. I'm here because I enjoy your writing. Today I feel great. And now I will go read a book. *drops back into lurker mode*

The main reason I joined LJ was to have a convenient way of keeping up with the people who I was reading...

I've tried to follow your work since I read _Emerald House Rising_.

I find inspiration in your daily travails; it's astounding to me that you get so much done! I endeavor to have the energy to work on writing, but often fail, so your struggles give me hope that mine shall also be rewarded.

I found your journal a roundabout way and said hey! She wrote one of my favorite books, and so I friended you so that I could see what you were writing about here. I stick around because of the nature of your posts. I've come to enjoy your opinions, hearing about your kids, your day, what peeves you, all of it.

As for me, I have three children, all girls, two of them grown and giving me more grandchildren than I can count. Four now and one more on the way and I hope they stop for a while after that. I'm an artist and writer - I've had only one story published to date and I suspect that is my own fault for not writing for four years. Such is life and I won't be letting that happen again. :)

Hi, I'm a third-grade teacher who recently moved from NYC to Michigan. I can't remember how I came upon your lj, but I did...and, well, anyway, I like the way you write, the way you capture everyday moments.

Hi, I don't think I've ever commented before, but I friended your journal because I realised that I was reading a friendsfriends just so I could read your posts. This just seemed easier. :)

I really admire your writing. Sometimes I feel that I'm taking theoretical parenting lessons from reading your posts about your girls. Anyway, hello to you. I apologize for not introducing myself before.

Hi. I read your journal because I read Kij Johnson's friends list-- to me, it's recommended reading. And you're interesting. I like hearing about things in your life, though the karate makes me wonder if my martial-arts failures were entirely my fault. I don't understand the ranks and it seems like they test every other week, but it's nice to see someone doing well at it. Your girls sound awesome. So do you.

I'm a regular reader, don't remember why I originally dropped by -- probably noticed you through one of our mutual friends, and I recognized your name after having read The Wild Swans a few years back.

Hi there. I mostly lurk, but I think I've commented once or twice. I was first introduced to you through The Wild Swans, which I think I found through my Lynn Flewelling fandom. As the dad of two daughters (http://flickr.com/photos/sarekofvulcan/4602574/), I love reading about Delia and Fiona.

I've been reading your journal regularly for a while. I just this summer tracked down The Wild Swans and wow. It's absolutely beautiful and incredibly moving. I stayed up late so I could find out exactly how you would weave the two storylines together, and was totally awestruck.
I also read Emerald House Rising, which is lovely as well. The world described there intrigues me; I love to discover new civilizations through reading.
But I read your journal because I hope, if I am ever a mother, to be as good a parent as you are. And because you have a lovely way of looking at the world.
Thank you for sharing.

I just friended you because I'd read The Wild Swans, which I'd picked up at Nimbus. Every now and then you give a hint or wo about the next book you're writing, and I'm both a fan of fairytale retellings and horrified by them, as I tried doing that in a fanfic and found it *incredibly* difficult. So. I'm leaving that to other people for now. ;)

Hi there. I friended you originally because I was surfing around LJ, looking for writers, in hopes that reading other writers on a regular basis would help inspire me in my own writing. Also, I'm always happy to read other people who live here in the Twin Cities! :)

I admire your honesty regarding parenting (I've got two young boys), finding the time and discipline to write and everyday problems.

I also enjoy your books ;-)
