I just talked to my mom; my dad went to the hospital last night with pancreatitis. He'll be in the hospital for a few days; right now he is tube-fed until they get his system cleaned out and calmed down. He was on morphine but I think from what Mom said he's feeling better--I don't know if she meant that the morphine is working, or he has stopped it entirely. They don't know the cause, but he is getting good care. We'll see what happens when they get back test results tomorrow.

He's not diabetic and has been very healthy indeed for many years. I think the only other time he was hospitalized (for an allergic reaction to penicillin) was in his twenties.

Oh. Guh. /That's/ not good. *reads* Well, the prognosis doesn't sound too bad-- but it's sure not good /now/. I'll be hoping/praying/whatever in y'all's general direction.

I'm sorry to hear that your dad is sick. Hospitals are not a fun place to be. Best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.

I hope your dad is feeling better (as in, they've stopped the morphine).

Ugh! I'm sorry to hear this -- it's a very unpleasant thing to have! (My wife developed it abruptly a few years ago as a surgery complication.) I hope all goes well and that whatever the problem was, it has already fixed itself, and all they have to do is flush him out and send him home!

Eeeee, JUST what you need.

The people I've known who had pancreatitis (a surprising number) have all been fine, but it is certainly no fun. Morphine is good, under the circumstances. I hope they can fix him up promptly.

P.
