Oh, how terrible.

Sending a prayer of peace and healing for you.

Tea, dammit.

(isn't anyone on my friends list paying attention?)

I have not read news for days.

Thanks for the heads up. Prayers indeed. *sigh*

I read the news online and in the newspaper first thing in the morning and only afterwards if it comes up for a specific reason (like this). So no, I wasn't paying attention; thanks for pointing it out.

Yes, I am. I was going to post about it a little later when information was more complete.

I was hoping to hear a bit more before I posted. And as I read that post, I read about the doctor who blew up his building in NYC yesterday so his ex-wife wouldn't benefit from it, I read about the ex-police chaplain in the Cleveland area that is now in jail for several years for rape of several young girls, I read the headline about the woman getting crushed in that tunnel. And I read the article about the boy who helped his ex-girlfriend kill and dismember a fellow classmate and his 45 years in jail for doing so.

So my head right now is kinda blurred in horrible news.

I love that icon. v true.

Listening to CNN right now -- the news keeps getting steadily worse. The pictures are horrible.

I'm trying not to think about it until later, because my commute home involves a tunnel beneath the East River and a train ride of an hour and a half.

Why do you think people on your friends list are not paying attention, just because they choose not to post about it?

Because of the contrast with how everyone reacted to the London bombing last year. That story everyone was following and talking about; this one no one seemed to be even noticing.

Probably there are more people on your f-list in London than in Bombay.

I only know one person in Bombay. (He's fine.)

This sounds like something I would care about a whole lot, but I got up this morning as per usual, read the day's *Star Tribune* also as per usual, and came into work. So this is the first I've heard of India's tragedy. Can someone send me to the nearest and best link, so I know what's going on? Thanks.

Nate

Look anywhere. It's the lead story on all the news.

When playing catch-up (as I so often do about news stories), I find news.google.com to be an excellent place to look. If it's not one of their top stories, a search nearly always turns it up.

Well, I'm paying attention; hadn't blogged on it, though. Horrible, of course; it'll be interesting to see if this ties in with the Srinigar terrorism.

As to why some folks -- not necessarily those on your friends list -- aren't talking about it, there is the rather interesting topic on, mirabile dictu, Democratic Underground: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=2381900&mesg_id=2382205

"Silence on this board stems from difficulty blaming this on George W. Bush."

Unsurprisingly, some folks there have already overcome the difficulty.

*nod* horrid stuff . . . .
for days like today I am incredibly grateful for a website like http://www.heroicstories.com . . . . so often the news that we hear is all so negative -it's nice to hear positive stuff every once in a while.
