Grocery run

I've been going crazy because there haven't been enough fruits and vegetables in the house, so I swung by Seward Co-op and bought:

Fresh kale
Mesclun lettuce mix
Parsley (I want to make some hummus)
Fresh figs (had one; it was soooo good)
Cilantro
Mushrooms
Red Cabbage (I have taken to bringing sliced raw red cabbage tossed with rice vinegar, a smidgen of sugar, and caraway seeds for lunch.)

The first thing that strikes me about this list is that it's pretty healthy.

The second thing is that no one else in my family will eat any of it.

Wow, I like that combination! Adding fruit to unexpected dishes is really fun. Today, I made cous-cous with fresh parsley and raisins. The parsley gave it a bite and the raisins mixed well with the butter/chicken stock mixture the cous-cous was cooked in.

Do you still have the recipe for that Hobbit's Stew?

Bilbo's Underground Stew, you mean? Here ya go. The nice thing is that this website will adjust the measurements of the ingredients depending on how many servings you tell it that you want.

I was just thinking yesterday that I'd like to make it again; I've been craving it lately.

It looks really good! Plus, it has veggies that I've haven't used a lot. I'm trying to broaden my veggie horizons. It's working, but it's a slow process lol.

Yeah, me too. I'd never really eaten parsnips or turnips or kohlrabi before trying this stew, but I love the taste of it. And I feel so virtuous eating it.
