Now that I am getting to know and enjoy my shiny new iPod, I have started enjoying podcasts. I have particularly been enjoying PotterCast, put out by the Leaky Cauldron, which I have been downloading for free from iTunes. I've listened to one or two of the Mugglecast podcasts from Mugglenet, but I haven't enjoyed it quite as much. Is there any as good as PotterCast for Lord of the Rings fans?

Your favorite podcast to recommend?

Not Potter/LOTR, but general fantasy -- you might enjoy Second Shift (http://secondshiftpodcast.com).

I like the "Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me!" podcasts of their weekly NPR show. They're at http://waitwait.npr.org.

YES! I haven't done the podcast version, but WWDTM is one of God's great creations.

I enjoy The Onion's podcasts. (Their Bush impersonator is spot-on.) They get sprinkled in among the music I download, and I forget they're there until they pop up. Makes it feel more like listening to the world's coolest radio station. :)

I haven't really found any others I like.

I'm biased, but:

Uncomfortable Questions (Sue Grandys' interview show -if often thought of suggesting to Sue that she interview you): http:suegrandys.libsyn.com/

Teknical Diffikulties (Chris' audio humour programme -he's up for a Podcast Peer Award): http://cayenne.libsyn.com

Channel Surfing Wipeout (Our comedy video show): http://chansurfwipe.libsyn.com/</l?

Slacker Astronomy. It's not terribly polished, but it's way more accurate (and accessible) than getting my astronomy news from the newspaper. At once a week, it's more frequent than Sky & Telescope, so it's pretty much the best way out there to stay up-to-date. Barring, of course, reading the abstracts on astro-ph every day, which is not something the general public will ever want to do.

Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me! is awesome, but I've been wondering whether they're becoming cruder and less clever than a few years ago with the live audiences, or whether it's just my imagination.

Langsam Gesprochene Nachrichten is the 10 o'clock news from Deutsche Welle, but spoken at normal-person rather than newscaster speed, so this rusty German student can actually understand.

NPR puts out a podcast of the Piano Puzzler from Performance Today, which is simply delightful. Bruce Adolphe takes a familiar tune (like This Old Man, or The Streets of Laredo) and rewrites it in the style of a well-known composer (like Bela Bartok or J.S. Bach), and they get a listener on the phone to guess the tune and the composer. Such geeky fun.

I'm driving across multiple states (and radio-less regions) soon to move for my new job, and so I was delighted to discover that I can burn podcasts to cds. I'm currently subscribed to over twenty so I can have many hours of interesting listening material while driving interesting but radio-silent roads.

On the next SpellCast, from FA, there will be an interview I did with my daughter and her friend about the Harry and the Potters concert we went to. I sort of can't wait to hear it (because I thought Rachel and Gabby did great) but I also can't stand the sound of my own voice when it's recorded.

Shoot me now. ;)

I don't have the link of me now, but there's a great workout mix podcast. It's kindof a response to the playlists that iTunes/Nike is putting out. It's the same principle, a mix based around a certain bpm or something like that, but it's free! There's also a meditation one I like...

I'd be very interested in both those links, if you could dig them up for me. Thanks!

That's the link to the general site for the fitness mixes. They have a ton more mixes on this site than on the podcast.

The other one is called the Meditation Station. http://www.fitdj.com/

I would give you exact podcast links if I could figure out how to do that lol.

I mostly listen to Disney-visiting podcasts, and, as Barb mentioned, SpellCast (I usually do the news).

Hello! A friend of mine told me I should come tell you about my podcast, so here i am! :) (btw I LOVE PotterCast also!)

Anyway, I'm the creator of AlleyCast, which you can listen to on MySpace at

http://www.myspace.com/alleycast

And actually in a few hours we should be uploading our fifth episode. Its all adults and actually not really kid friendly due to my filthy mouth, but we talk about all the interesting things going on in the Potterverse, and we've had some really cool interviews. In the new episode we interviewed Makani, a really wonderful FanArtist, and we also had a really cool conversation about snake mythology. So.. i humbly invite you to check us out. :)
