As an experiment, I bought a 1.5 quart slow cooker (a mere $10 at Target) and I'm trying different combinations of overnight crockpot hot cereal recipes. A few nights ago, I tried oatmeal and apples. Well, I thought it was delicious, but the girls turned their noses up at it. Tonight I threw in a combination of oatmeal, wild rice, barley, wheat germ, apples, dried cranberries and vanilla.

I can't wait to see how it turns out tomorrow morning.

A confident prediction: nobody else in my family will touch it.

Anyone have any hot cereal crock pot recipes to share?

Hmmm - I wonder how that would work in my single-temperature crockette?

I've been wanting to do a savory oatmeal - or at least one with some additional protein in it, which means something like diced canadian bacon or pre-cooked sausage. I've been thinking of oatmeal, meat, maybe some raisins? and topping it off with shredded parmesan.
