Hot cereal

As an experiment, I bought a 1.5 quart slow cooker (a mere $10 at Target) and I'm trying different combinations of overnight crockpot hot cereal recipes. A few nights ago, I tried oatmeal and apples. Well, I thought it was delicious, but the girls turned their noses up at it. Tonight I threw in a combination of oatmeal, wild rice, barley, wheat germ, apples, dried cranberries and vanilla.

I can't wait to see how it turns out tomorrow morning.

A confident prediction: nobody else in my family will touch it.

Anyone have any hot cereal crock pot recipes to share?

Let me know how those recipes turn out. I *love* cooking in the crock pot!

One that I like: Take sauerkraut and put a layer of it in the crock pot. Add a layer of potatoes (red skinned are good, sliced) and a layer of pork chops. Repeat. Then pour beer in to the top, and add seasonings (caraway is good, too). Let cook all day. The alcohol cooks off and it's just nummy, IF you like sauerkraut. Very good served with baked spiced apples.

It turned out very well, and as I suspected, I was the only one willing to eat it. Delia went to school fretful because she could not figure out what to have for breakfast and so went without--even though this hot breakfast was there waiting for her. *rolls eyes*

I like the sound of your recipe VERY much--but again, I am the only one in my family who would eat it, because of the sauerkraut.
