Hot cereal
Nov. 13th, 2006 10:41 pmAs an experiment, I bought a 1.5 quart slow cooker (a mere $10 at Target) and I'm trying different combinations of overnight crockpot hot cereal recipes. A few nights ago, I tried oatmeal and apples. Well, I thought it was delicious, but the girls turned their noses up at it. Tonight I threw in a combination of oatmeal, wild rice, barley, wheat germ, apples, dried cranberries and vanilla.
I can't wait to see how it turns out tomorrow morning.
A confident prediction: nobody else in my family will touch it.
Anyone have any hot cereal crock pot recipes to share?

Then pour beer in to the top, and add seasonings (caraway is good, too). Let cook all day. The alcohol cooks off and it's just nummy, IF you like sauerkraut. Very good served with baked spiced apples.
