You know how it is when you are busily typing away at your day job because that’s how you earn your living and its after lunch and you are sooooo sleepy and you find that the volume on the dicctashun macheene startz to waiver and yr fngrsz stert 2 fooumble and yr head srtz 2 . . . . SNAP up and you keep trying to type because this is yr job and u are a teem player but yr i-lids strt to drooooooop & the dictashun m’chine drooonneees on and on and on and on & on&on&on&on&on and yr hd drooooooops and SNAPS up and you drinks some coffee and get up and stretch and try walking around your desk, and you get a cold glass of water and dip your fingerz in it and dabble the COLD water on your neck and sit down and try to start typing and the dictashun mchine drones on and on and on and on and on and onnnnnnnnnnzzzzzzzzzzzz

This is happening to me.

I can take a nap if I want to -- I mean, nobody will fire me -- but it severely messes up my sleep schedule, which is already messed up by intermittent insomnia.

What I find most efficacious is tea -- not coffee, coffee seems too harsh for that time of day -- and a snack with some protein to it. Avoid tryptophan. Nuts and apples, peanut butter and apple, green salad with walnuts, all have worked for me.

It's tricky eating something with salad dressing on it at the computer, though.
