It really stinks to be away from home on a business trip when one's youngest daughter is sick.

People in Des Moines dress casually. In the several hours I have spent already walking the skyways skywalks, I have observed only about a half a dozen women wearing skirts. All others have been in slacks, and many in jeans.

The building we are using for temporary office space is really, uh, skanky. The horror of the bilious green countertops in the women's bathroom cannot be adequately described.

The guys on the trial team assure me that the men's lavoratory is much, much worse.

I am eating too much stuff that is not good for me.

I am exercising at least, using workout DVDs that I brought with me, and I'm walking the skyways skywalks at lunch.

My chair does not have enough back support. As I am working twelve hour days, this is not good.

Note to self: next time, bring movie DVDs for the hotel room at night.

Kisses blown to me by my offspring through the webcam set up in my office are absolutely adorable and help a lot to keep homesickness at bay.

Lordy, I am exhausted. Do not expect any scintillating comments from me tonight. Am crashing.

Poor Delia - what bug has she caught?

Do you know when 'next time' will be? I know you said you were going to be in Des Moines a lot in the upcoming period.

I hope the rest of the week is as painless as possible. *hug*

trip in general sounds pretty sucktastic.

am intrigued by your comment about dressiness/lack thereof. is that necessarily displayed by lack of skirt-wearing women? i almost never wear skirts, but i do think i am pretty dressy (at work, at least). i just go for suit type things instead (hate skirts).

If it's any consolation, while walking downtown Mpls. yesterday I noticed that within a half hour I saw two women wearing large winter caps with ears on them. And since I'd just been reading about furry conventions, it made my head swivel for a bit there, don'tcha know.

Yes, the men's room would have the added scuzziness-exacerbating component of bad aim.

Sorry to hear it's such a trial. So to speak.

Well, the hotel is very nice, at least!
