I still have no outgoing e-mail. Sorry, those of you who are waiting to hear from me.

It's not been a good day in Peg-land today. Double-plus ungood, actually. Don't want to go into it, really--Elinor Dashwood thinks it best to decline to furnish details. Sorry. Just take my word for it.

Have been thinking about curiosity. It is an essential component for creativity, after all. Perhaps (I think) I have been neglecting my own internal sense of curiosity rather than feeding it, and so it feels a bit flabby, like an under-utilized muscle which needs to get back into fighting trim. Possible things that might help: reading more nonfiction,, reading books in new areas for me, going to different places on my Friday nights out. Breaking out of ruts, in other words.

Any suggestions you wish to wing this way gratefully received.

Go down to the creek and look under rocks. Find a new trail and see where it goes. Go out to the Post Road and watch the planes, and write a 10 second story about each one. Go into an ethnic grocery store and buy some weird canned stuff and see if it tastes good.

If you want something gauranteed harmless and utterly out of your rut for *this* Friday, I have something to suggest.
