I last did this in June of 2005, so it's probably time to do it again:

Gacked mostly verbatim from [livejournal.com profile] nmalfoy: Lurkers out there, yo, today's your day. Whether you're a LJ-lurker or from someplace outside reading this journal, you are the reason this journal isn't locked by default. So, come out and say 'hi' or something. Tell me what you're doing here, how you feel, who you are, whatever. Today's the day to seize and be un-shy for once.

AND tell if you are a regular reader of this journal or just like to drop in when I'm being snarky or whatever. You can tell me what you like and what you don't like about it. It's okay; I'd like to know, and I have pretty thick skin. Well, usually.

Or just drop in to say hi... because it would be nice to know if there's more than the same 8 or 10 people that gets good use out of this journal, you know what I mean?

(And yeah, this means you, too, Mom. Leave a comment. You didn't leave one last time, but I'm still hoping you will!)

Hi! *waves* I read your journal, I just don't comment all the time. I have to say that I love your icons and mood theme. It's great. Did you make them?

Yes, indeed, I made all the icons myself and designed the mood set. It was a lot of fun, and I really enjoy using them.

Did you just flip through the books and find quotes or did you look for them on the web? I would love to make a mood theme, but a better/faster computer is needed. And Photoshop is also needed.

Actually, I've read Lord of the Rings and listened to the BBC Radio production so often that I know the book extremely well, which meant I could just pick many of the quotes right out of my own memory (going back to the book to check that I had the wording exactly right, and I usually did). [livejournal.com profile] kijjohnson has often marveled at my weird memory, which will allow me to pull quotes verbatim out of the air of something I've read. I did have to ask my friends list for a little help on about ten of them or so. [livejournal.com profile] cedarlibrarian, for example, I remember, was the one who came up with the perfect quotation when I was stumped for something that would denote "flirty":

which is what Galadriel says when Gimli asks for a strand of her hair.

From memory!? That's amazing!

And that is a great quote for flirty. It fits perfectly.
