May. 9th, 2007 07:49 pmHere are some pictures I took at this weekend's May Day Parade, put on by the Heart of the Beast Mask and Puppet Theater:

This snapping turtle was created in honor of the turtle that is said to live at the bottom of Powderhorn Lake |
Dancing jelly fish |
Fish! |
Seahorse |
Crocodile |
Snail |
Marching bands at the May Day parade are VERY casual. No uniforms (although there may be costumes), no precision, but LOTS of fun and enthusiasm. |
The baby was supposed to represent new beginnings in the water . . . it seemed cheerful, albeit vaguely creepy. |
Frogs and lilypads |
Mother of the Waters |
Father of the waters |
Faucet on stilts |
I'm not quite sure what they represented. The evils of the bottled water industry, perhaps. But many water bottles were involved. |

The shrouded Tree of Life, being carried to the ceremony in Powderhorn Park |
Polar bear |
The Mississippi River |
