Now I've got a little fever. Nothing serious, just enough to make me uncomfortable. And I'm not sure if it's my imagination, or if my belly really has swollen up. DId it look like that before, like I'm a few months pregnant?

They recommended walking, so Rob went out with me this afternoon for a shuffle around the block.

This feels so strange. Almost unnerving. Last week I was biking fifty miles a week. Now I can barely make it around the block.

Still on pain meds. I need 'em.

I'm not used to being this much slowed down. It's freaking weird.

Blargh.

Spent the day watching movies. Watched Saved! and High School Musical, neither of which I've seen before. Am about to put in 13 Going on 30. I wish I had a copy of Emma. I'd like to watch that.

Oh, poor boo. *huggles* It takes some time to recovery. Have patience.

I sent you something that I hope will help pass the time.

It's amazing how much surgery knocks the stuffing out of you. And I only had knee surgery, not abdominal. Hope the fever and pain start abating soon.

Did you like Saved! and HSM? I've heard good things about them but haven't seen either one. Any chance someone could rent Emma for you? And meanwhile, how about some good Colin Firth P&P? :)

I watched Colin Firth P&P yesterday. And I liked Saved and HSM. Rob looked for Emma for me when he went out to Target today, but they didn't have it.

I want the dress that the female lead in HSM was wearing at the big final number.

Peg, you must rest, rest, rest. It takes time. If the fever gets very high at all, call the doctor. Do a search on postoperative fatigue, and you'll see it can last a good bit longer than the (quite predictable) pain from the procedure. This was a major surgery, and it was only two days ago, and you MUST let things run their course.

Take it from mom.

I had a hysterectomy, oh, a decade ago and you sound like you're getting around better than I did, but I also had about an eight inch incision. I thought the gas was a cruel joke. Not only do you feel lousy after having your guts invaded, but your belly looks very, very weird and then there are those strange pains as the gas escapes.

It gets better and it does so quickly.

I had a laporscopic surgery (sp?) last summer and, yes, the gas trapped in the shoulders was unbearable. Funny though, because I walso watched High School Musical. Not my normal movie, but I figured I would "treat" myself with the fluff.

I know it hurts, and it's hard to be so much weaker and less aware of yourself, but I'm glad that you're following the doctor's orders. A low grade fever is unfortunately normal; I'm glad you're at home, though, where it's easier to make yourself comfortable than if you were hospitalized.

The walking is WONDERFUL for healing -- my Dad's surgeon had him out of bed 12 hours after he left Post-Anesthesia after his colon resection, for a very, very short walk (50' in total), and every six to eight hours for the next five days. By the last day, we had him outside walking around the city block the hospital stood on, and he was strong enough to be let go three days earlier than usual for someone with his particular set of conditions. The key is to take purposeful walks with some level of frequency, but at a distance that you can build on each time -- each one shouldn't wipe you out completely.

Hang in there.

ack, silly fingers hitting Reply before I'm ready!

I'm glad you're doing okay, and I hope you regain your strength and health well. My thoughts and prayers are with you, that you can be patient with your body while it does its healing thing. *hug*

Hope you feel much better day by day - even hour by hour.

And hope you enjoyed 13 Going On 30. . .I watched that once when laid up with cellulitis and it did wonders for me. :) Of course, Jenna's was kinda "my" era too, so maybe that was part of it. . . .

My favourite bit of Saved:

"I am FILLED with Christ's love!" *flings Bible*

Poor Pegster. You'll get there. You'll be better soon. :)

I was surprise how fragile and vulnerable I felt after having my little surgery. I found it a bit unnerving really.

They had me walking pretty quickly after my c-section, and it really really helped me both to heal, and to deal with the gas pains. In fact, the pains I had afterwards really helped me to understand why my baby cries the way he does when he has gas (poor guy).

Don't push too hard, and don't be too hard on yourself. It'll all come back soon enough. Take advantage of some lovely couch time to read, or otherwise relax! How often do you get that opportunity?
