Thank you for mentioning the pre-order availability! I have the twins' first CD, and really enjoy their songs. Too bad there are repeats, but I still think it's worth picking up their new one. I haven't listened to Peeved's remix yet, but I LOVE "Pretty Girl."
You aren't planning to go to Portus are you? We need an HP conference up here in the Twin Cities area, although I suppose Chicago is close. I chose Portus instead though because of Snapefest.
We are hoping to get to Portus, but haven't been able to commit yet. Recent not yet published events have substantially increased the likelihood we may make it.
Re: Twin Cities HP event
The HPEF Board of Directors would be very interested in hearing from a committee interested in offering their services to run an HPEF event in the Twin Cities. Pull together a group and submit a bid. A strong committee with a good bid will be quite well received. We have been wanting to see our event in this neck of the woods for some time now. (Peg is past president and I am a current voting member of the Board.) HPEF has run Nimbus, The Witching Hour, Lumos, and Prophecy, and is sponsoring the upcoming Portus, with events scheduled for San Jose and Orlando again after that. Minneapolis would be perfect to follow Orlando, don't you think?
Rob
P.S. Snapefest seems v. cool and we were most glad when she offered to do that beside our event. It filled up immediately, so it is clear others agree.
Thank you for the forward from Rob. Should I email him back directly about putting in a bid? I'm very interested in working on one, however 1) I've never even been to an HPEF event, although I'm registered for Portus and would like to attend Level 2, and 2) I don't really know anyone in the Twin Cities HP fandom community. I live out in rural Wisconsin, east of Stillwater, rather removed from the Cities except on weekends. On the pro side, I'm a former administrative assistant who's done small scale event planning, and I'd love the challenge of working on an event like this. I've already got some ideas, and I'm really excited.
It would be terrific if you could get a team together and submit a bid. It would be very exciting to hold an HPEF event here in Minneapolis. I'll talk with Rob about getting you the information you need to submit a bid.
I hope we will get to Portus (I wanted to go to the Snapefest event, but as Rob said, we haven't finalized our plans about going yet, so we missed the opportunity). It will be difficult for us to do it--Rob has no vacation during the first six months of his new job, and money is very tight. But maybe we will manage it.
