Today's wizard rock discovery: Peeved
Nov. 13th, 2007 10:49 amPeeved is the project of Jack Westmore, who was apparently making music before he became aware of wizard rock, but once he encountered it, he thought it would be fun and jumped in.
Anyway, Peeved has two songs available for free download which I like and recommend: "The Ballad of Mr. Percy Weasley" and especially "Pretty Girl." The latter one is about the relationship between Harry and Hermione, not something covered in wizard rock too often (you'll run across songs about Harry mooning over Ginny much more frequently). It's quite fun, including several examples of Harry's bumbling excuses about how he desperately needs her help to finish his homework/figure out the latest Triwizard Tournament task/blow up Voldemort.
The third song, "Expelliarmus Kid," is sort of a Western satire, which is not my thing and didn't quite ring my chimes, but your mileage may vary. Anyway, Peeved's music is amusing and a cut above in the usual production values of many of the bands and so is worth a try. I'll be keeping an eye on his page.
As always, comment if you like.
