2026 52 Card Project: Week 35: Fun

pegkerrI've been getting together with a couple of friends to walk three times a week first thing in the morning. Sometimes, we walk around Lake Nokomis if weather permits, but this summer, due to heat, humidity, bad air, and various injuries we've been nursing, we have mostly been walking at the Mall of America before the mall opens.
This spring, we noticed a kiosk that was set up by one of the escalators: scan an app or a receipt for something you bought at the mall, and you could collect points. We generally stopped for coffee to talk for a while after our walks, so we started collecting receipt points that way.
Then at the beginning of the summer, another kiosk was set up, and we started checking in there, too. Scan the app, and you could win something every day: a 6-point pass to the Nickeloden Universe amusement park. A free admission to mini-golf. A ticket to the Matrix 5D show. A free coffee at the cafe. A $5 off coupon at a restaurant. Or, once, memorably, six free chocolate truffles.
This past week, as the summer promotion time was coming to a close, we met at the mall in the afternoon to cash in our free coupons. It was fun! We each had different tastes in roller coaster styles, so we rode those separately, but we played mini-golf under black lights together, which I haven't done in quite a long time.
Sometimes, you just gotta take the time to have fun. And saving money while you do so makes it all the sweeter.
I wanted this collage to capture the sense of color and busyness of an afternoon of indulging in our own amusement.
