I'm with you on all but No 1 -- I have turned into a World Cup junkie. I even persuaded my poor husband, who has no interest in sports at all, to watch the third-place match with me yesterday. He was v sweet about it.

The list of things I am not interested is indeed long, though not nearly so long as the list of things I am, or could be, interested in. The tricky thing is finding people with overlapping interests; it took years, but I've done pretty well, by now.

I, too, have turned into a World Cup junkie -- mostly because up until about three days ago, I actually was living in Germany. It was hard not to be caught up in the collective insanity (the sound of an entire country screaming at the same time is not to be ignored). And I actually think it's really cool that there's a world sport that pretty much every country is involved in.

Shall mention as a Torontonian lurker-- anyone who lives in a city with a sizable Italian population has a de facto interest in who wins the World Cup, because if Italy wins sections of the city become impassable by vehicles for three days or more.

I'm with you. *Especially* that last one.

(Though the second one only by default, as I missed many of the previous episodes. Still, the new guy does remind me just a little of lovely Tom Baker; I'll see if I care after I've seen the re-runs.)

And add on the season finale of *any* so-called reality show, and the "baby plans" of *any* so-called celebrity. Oh, and anything the morning news anchors introduce with the words "And now, what *all* of you have been dying to find out..." *sheesh* Who told them they could speak for me?

I'd add, any reality show whatsoever, and American Idol and all its imitators.

The harder it is to just get away from a subject, the more vehemently I feel UNINTERESTED.

And I'm usually mildly interested in Wimbledon but this year, it just didn't do it for me.

Brangelina -- I would be just as happy if I never hear Brad Pitt's name again. He's not even a good actor (imho) he just keeps playing himself. Angelina...well, enuff said.

I always said I hated 'reality tv' but I loved 1800's house and Frontier House, and those are certainly reality TV. But I agree with what pameladean says.

I'd watch Doc Who if it were available to me.

Those are delightful reality TV shows for history geeks. Not like regular reality TV at all because they are completely unconcerned with pop culture, which is the majority of what most reality shows are concerned with. My friends teased me mercilessly for my obsession with Frontier House a few years back, and my recent discovery of Manor House, Texas Ranch House, and Colonial House means that my I will likely be stalking my local PBS stations for broadcasts.

kinda hard not to know about the world cup here, but yeah I totally get it. I hate soccer, and it annoys me no end that I dont work on game days(means I dont get paid for those days) and all people talk is soccer, soccer, soccer!!!

I've been interested in the World Cup only insofar as living in an Italian neighbourhood made me wish they would stop being provided with excuse for driving around cheering and honking their horns.
