The Center for Public Integrity decided to do a report entitled Broken Government on the government during the Bush years.
In a comprehensive assessment of systematic failures over the past eight years, the Center found more than 125 examples of government breakdown. The failures occurred in areas as diverse as education, energy, the environment, justice and security, the military and veterans’ affairs, health care, transportation, financial management, consumer and worker safety, and more. While some of the failures are, by now, depressingly familiar, many are less well-known but equally distressing.

After a week of no exercise (very foreign to me), arnica, Tylenol, ice, heat, compression bandage and elevation, I cautiously did a test this morning: a full squat, so that the backs of my thighs rested on my calves. The result: agony.

Ok, ok. It's not getting better on its own. I'm seeing the doctor at 3:15 today. They'll take some X-rays and then we'll see.

I really hope I won't have to have surgery.

The game is swimming along beautifully, but we have had some parts open up. Big parts, little parts, established parts, new parts. Heroes and villains both. Adults and children both. Canon and newly established for this game. Seize the opportunity! Send an email to hp.alternity@gmail.com and our friendly mod will answer any and all serious inquiries.

Never read the Harry Potter books? Well, at least one of our players who will be starting playing soon is actually reading the Harry Potter books for the first time now.

Still a minor? We have at least two minors playing. We plan to play the game at about the PG-13 level.

Any other questions, just ask. Thanks.

Here's a quick rundown of what's happened in the game so far.

Here's a quick rundown if you've never read Harry Potter before.

Nothing definitive. The doctor manipulated the knee in several different directions, but nothing particularly crunched or gave me the intense pain that a standing full squat did. She did agree that following up with a sports medicine clinic was a good idea and gave me a referral; sensei had a doctor's name to suggest, too, and said he was very familiar with karate-type injuries and rehabilitation. I'll make some calls tomorrow.
