I've created a wizard rock set list which adheres pretty closely to the plot of the seven books, book by book. I chose a variety of artists I particularly like, that have done a good job of dramatically presenting various scenes or just the feeling the books evoke, through their lyrics and music.

Here's how I'd tell the story of Harry Potter through Wizard Rock songs )

Your suggestions, additions, deletions? I'm probably relying most heavily on Riddleâ„¢ and Ministry of Magic, with a goodly dose of Harry and the Potters, Draco and the Malfoys, the Parselmouths, the Weasel King, the Remus Lupins, the Whomping Willows, and Oliver Boyd & the Remembralls.

Potter Noyz has set up a supplemental page, the "Weasley Is Our King" Fan Club where (if you have a MySpace account) you can download a couple of tunes they've done in conjunction with The Department of Rock. Episode 6 of the Potter Noyz podcast is also up: you can subscribe through iTunes.

I really rather like Potter Noyz. Some definitely above-average songs, and if you follow the podcast you'll see they're not just a band, they are a whole plotted story about what has happened to Harry and friends after book 7, including a developing mystery about why other wizard rock bands have been disappearing; and they're trying both to promote reading (as other wrock bands do) and charitable work.. Nice work.

As always, please comment if you listen and like.

Potter Noyz has added a wonderful new song about Snape, "The Bravest Man I Ever Knew." Now, this song isn't yet downloadable, BUT since they added it, they HAVE switched "To Fred," another great one, to downloadable status (if you have a MySpace account, that is). So check out their page, grab "To Fred" and listen to "The Bravest Man I Ever Knew." They rotate their downloadable song offerings, so keep an eye on their page, and "Bravest Man" should eventually become downloadable, too, when they add another song in the future.

Neville's Diary has also posted a new downloadable song, "When Hell Freezes Over," which is about Neville's story in Book 7. I like every one of the songs he's posted, he's charming, but then you know I'm a big Neville fan. I believe that the people behind Neville's Diary are the same ones behind The Quaffle Kids.

As always, leave a comment if you listen and like, for my own curiosity.
