I took my cane to work, left it in my car, reasoning I'd go get it if I really needed it. About an hour later, I decided that yes, I really need it, and so I'm using it now.
porphyrin kindly dropped off some arnica for me, and she recommended heat, Tylenol, arnica, elevation, compression, and no karate for at least a week. No karate???? *sulks* I should also talk to sensei. I'm doing the rehabilitative exercises
cloudscudding recommended to me before, and I'll pick up a restrictive bandage on my way home. I'll bring my heating pad with me tomorrow.
Um, ab work? Upper body weights?
*going stir crazy without my daily walk on the bridge*

Date: 2009-01-06 07:55 pm (UTC)Tylenol, for me, doesn't work too well, and I have to take so much of it that I worry about the liver damage it can cause if you exceed the dosage on the bottle. But it might work for you--we are all different. You may have to experiment to find the right dosage or medicine for you. Plain old aspirin works just fine, too.
NO KARATE until you can go at least two days with very little pain when waking up, and the stiffness and soreness is gone. Trust me on this, tidbit. Sadly, I've been there too many times. If it helps, just going walking (I do about 2 miles) three days in a row will cripple me for about three days. Saturday night I went dancing and man, I paid for it Sunday but it sure was fun. You just did too much, kid. Hate to say this, but you aren't 25 anymore. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY, stubborn. (easy for me to say: I push myself all the time--see above re. walking three days in a row).
