I deeply appreciated the following letter which was the letter of the day in today's Minneapolis Star Tribune:
What's wrong with the wronged wives of politicians, allowing themselves to be dragged out in front of the cameras to be further humiliated by their betraying husbands?

Can't they say, "No way, pig"?

And, if the stated intention of the news conference is for the politician to resign, and he doesn't, wifey should grab his buttocks and dig in her nails, whispering in his ear, "Resign, stupid, before I grab some other part of your anatomy and hurt you real bad in front of all these nice people."

If they are not tough enough to do that, then they should just stay home. Please! And take their phony "support" with them.

I really admire this couple a lot.

In 2002, at the ages of 62 and 48, Pat and Catherine Patterson decided to leave it all behind. They sold their real-estate business and their cars, gave their furniture to their children, and put their home up for rent. Strapping their remaining possessions to two bicycles, the couple set off to bike around the world. Read more.

At the excellent suggestion of [livejournal.com profile] anam_cara, I plan to bring along supplies and start to try Soulcollaging while on my retreat. My book arrived yesterday, and I need to get some mat cardboard and glue. I have been collecting some magazines, but would like more, and, especially, art cards.

Does anyone local have any (in particular) old National Geographic magazines, art cards or old art books you would be willing to get rid of to donate to the cause? I would be willing to come pick them up this weekend. Leave me a comment if you do. Thanks!

I'm sure there must be an excellent reason for the five or so rubber chickens hanging, head downward, in the window of one of the practice rooms in the MacPhail Center for the Arts.

I just haven't figured out what it is yet.

I want, quite desperately, to leave on my retreat.

Now.

Right. Now.

No doubt more will be added, and various cuts will be rearranged. But it's a great list so far, some of it from my own collection, but much of it built by help from my friends here on LiveJournal. Thank you again to all of you who have sent me music:
